About Byron
Byron began playing trumpet at the age of 11 while growing up in Garland, TX. Early in high school, he became serious about pursuing the trumpet as a career. After graduating from Indiana Academy and attending one semester of college, Byron decided to enlist in the United States Marine Corps as a bandsman for a four-year tour.Upon completion of his active duty tour, Byron and his family moved to Bloomington, IN where he completed his Bachelor's of Music at Indiana University under the tutelage of Professor Edmund Cord. In June of 2008, Byron and his family relocated to the Atlanta, GA area. Some of Byron's most notable performances include multiple appearances at Carnegie Hall in New York City, on the History Channel, performing for Vice President Dick Cheney and Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, and from 2006-2008 performed solo "Taps" at the famed Indianapolis 500 race, as well as the National Anthem at the 2007 Brickyard 400. In addition to his performances with the Army, Byron regularly performs with the Ludwig Symphony, the West Central Winds, and on occasion, the Georgia Brass Band. Byron also plays at First Baptist Church of Douglasville. |
